On the Separate Assessment of Structural Effects on the Simple Beam Deflection in the Light of Fractional Calculus

Euler-Bernoulli (EB) and Timoshenko-Ehrenfest (TE) theories model simple beams under linear constraints. But even keeping these constraints, specific structural effects in real applications compromise the accuracy of models, such as stress concentration due to force reactions on support contacts or bucking, for example. Both EB TE solutions assume planar cross sections stability, therefore do not address those particular effects; interest using them is explore conditions which shear are significant not. Numerical ones obtained from Finite Element Method (FEM) reach quite well, depending complexity problem degree refinement. However, although accurate, numerical distinguish whethera effect charge not; they implicitly encompass all a whole. To diagnose beams, analytical can be employed long noticeably differ corresponding affected structures modeled FEM environment, latter taken reference. measure this disagreement one either directly compare each resulting deflection profile or, alternatively, against fractional calculus fed with theFEM data. The second case, focus study, provides better measurement, our understanding, order informs magnitude absolute values, allows fairer evaluation.
